"You've probably already noticed the prevailing shade of the season. Chunky jewellery, oversized bags or sequinned shift dresses...you can have any colour as long as it's gold. Dozens of tones and styles are available on the high street, so finding something that suits isn't difficult. Set sleek dark outfits off with a heavy chain; go for luxe metallic tights under a skirt or Š for the daring: gold leggings. A little goes a long way, and I wouldn't recommend wearing it head-to-toe unless you're trying to make it as a street performer. Although gold party dresses are everywhere this season, you'll notice they're generally rather short: again, it's about contrast, with a bright dress there should always be opaque or leggings underneath. For those of us who don't feel a 60's A-line shift dress shows us in our best light, there are plenty of other simple ways to achieve fast grown-up chic. If you're going out straight from work, take a sparkly clutch bag with you and empty the essentials into it. Not much changes in the world of glamour, and all any girl has ever really needed to feel a million dollars on a night out is a lipstick, nail polish to touch up any chips and a handful of complements. A word of warning, though. While a little sparkle is a wonderful thing, avoid glitter on your hair and face unless you're a catwalk model or under the age of twelve." - Cambridge Agenda
"The cooler weather creeping in gives us a great excuse to snuggle up with the seasonÕs cosiest and most forgiving trend: knitwear. With major supermarket chains stocking a great range of cashmere sweaters and cardigans at very reasonable prices, and knits of every colour and size in all the high street shops, this is indeed a rare fashion trend - one that everyone can take part in. The emphasis this season is very much on shape. DonÕt hide under a great baggy jumper, but do go for an oversized v-neck that clings in the right places. V-necks are surprisingly flattering but can feel a little formal, so layer with neutral colours for an individual look. It may cost a little more to get a really good fit, but itÕll soon pay for itself in compliments alone. Unusually, the comfiest way to wear knits is also the most striking. Sweater dresses are well and truly the look of the season and a good quality one will hide a multitude of sins. In many ways the natural conclusion to this yearÕs trend for oversized jumpers, these superbly versatile garments are brilliant for work and play. They can be teamed with leggings or boots, nipped in with a wide belt, or worn over straight jeans." - Cambridge Agenda
"The dress. It's hard to imagine anything more glorous than a bridal gown, but there's nothing to stop the bride-to-be taking inspiration from high street trends, particularly volume and layering, on her big day. For a contemporary feel, try a tulip-shaped skirt with a slim-fitting top, or go for a fitted dress with puffed or bell sleeves. For the ultimate contemporary wedding, fearless brides could opt for an A-line tunic dress, which will look great over white or cream leggings. Fashion-conscious brides after a more traditional look should know that waists are big news; add a sash ribbon for a fast and simple way to this season's elegant silhouette. The traditional tiara might have had its day. Celebrity brides have started a new craze by pinning diamond earrings into their hair, or wearing beautiful hair grips in the place of a veil. Jewelled flower hair pieces combine a very modern interest in organic shapes with the eternal appeal of sparkling gems. Co ordinate with beaded pieces tucked into the bridal bouquet. Splashes of colour will liven up what can sometimes turn into a rather serious occasion. Coloured trims on wedding dresses are everywhere this season, while underskirts in bright hues will make for lively photographs. Coloured soles on the bride's shoes are a particularly nice touch: she can still have her white wedding, but reveal her fun side at the reception as she does a turn on the dancefloor!"
